Dear Friends, The Holiday's are here! With the hustle and bustle of the season around us, I have found the malls and stores too overwhelming - especially totting two babies with me!  It all started when I saw my 14 month old shriek with excitement when she saw Castle Marbleworks for the first time. I saw her curiousity follow the colorful red and yellow ball down the path and at every twist and turn I saw her light up as she wondered where the magic ball would end up. Later that day I watched the light go on while the smile on my 3 year old grew and grew as she acheived the "aha" moment while playing the game of "It's a Match". Now, as I have settled into my new role as a mom, I am happy to be introducing a little bit of Bloom back into the world. Volume: 08 | Issue: HolidayThere is no denying it - The Holidays are coming!October 20, 2008  I know it's hard to imagine because Halloween has yet to arrive, but the Holidays are just around the corner. I was stunned to go to Target two weeks ago and see Christmas ornaments up. For me, the thought of buying stocking stuffers before the leaves have turned is totally out of the question. And, while you may not be ready to race through a toy store or find the right tie for Uncle Bob, there are advantages to preparing a bit in advance. As a new mom, I have begun to realize how much work is needed to have a special holiday. For years, Gill and I shopped for gifts, wrapped them, and showed up on our parents' door steps, ready to celebrate. Now, as a mother myself, I have gotten a taste of all that is involved in executing a memorable holiday: decorating the house, shopping for casts of thousands, making cookies for the Cookie Exchanges and of course, sending out the perfect Holiday Card that shows the world just how beautiful your family is!! You may not be ready to bake cookies or decorate the house (I have pumpkins out right now and am not ready for Christmas trees), but you can at least cross one thing off your list. Order your Holiday cards early! I know it may take you a while to address them, but the fact that they have been ordered, received and sitting in a neat box on your desk can give you a bit of relief going into the Holiday Season. | Snap Shot - Getting a Great Family Photo October 13, 2008 I know the pressure that comes with getting the perfect picture of your family. Trust me, I know. Gill and I have spent the last 15 months at Portrait Innovations. We are there for every occasion. Picture after picture, saving  them all for
prosperity. We debate for hours over what pose truly shows the
boys personalities,
their charm and of course, their beautiful outfits from their
grandparents. At the end of the day, our favorite pictures are taken in our backyard or in front of our fireplace. The kids are relaxed, happy and not surrounded by strangers trying to get them to smile. Here are my tips on getting a great picture, especially if you have small children: 1. Make sure your kids are well rested and have full tummies 2. It's great to have everyone dress up for the picture, but make sure the clothes are comfortable - bow ties for one year olds just don't work! 3. Take the picture in familiar surroundings: your home, backyard or local park. 4. You don't need to hire a professional photographer; ask a neighbor or friend to take the pictures using a digital camera. I think you'll be amazed by the results if your family is happy and relaxed during your photo shoot. What do you do once you have these beautiful family pictures? Send out a Holiday Photo Card, of course! We are pleased to offer the option of having your photo printed directly onto the cards. (You can select this option upon checkout).
